2014 Hair Trends at Darren Michael, Oldham

2014 is seeing big changes in the world of hair, and a new year really can mean a new you. Why not make a statement by revealing a brand new hairstyle?

If you’re thinking of changing your look, or you just want to keep up with the latest hair trends, then the highly skilled team of Stylists at our Oldham hairdressers are here for you.

Maybe you fancy a permanent change such as a splash of statement colour?

Or something more temporary like a romantic braid or bun?

The Darren Michael team have something for you!

2014 Colour Trend: Bold

4When it comes to 2014 hair colour, the rule is ‘the bolder the better’. A full head of hair colour will give you the edge; however, it is for the brave.  If you’re not feeling so gutsy then why not go for a statement flash in your fringe? Find out about a full colour change or perhaps a partial head of colour on our hair colour page, or alternatively by speaking to one of the Darren Michael hair care experts for advice on maintaining your colour.

2014 Hairstyle Trend: Straight Hair

1For years big bouncing curls have been everywhere, but now poker straight hair is back – and in a big way. For those who aren’t naturally blessed with sleek tresses, then why not have your mane tamed with one of our Brazilian Blow Dries? Keratin is injected into the hair, resulting in a shiny frizz free finish, which will last up to three months. If you really want to copy the catwalk looks then straight hair is slicked back, giving a wet look effect.

2014 Hairstyle Trend: Buns and Braids

messy-bunFor something different, why not sweep your luscious locks into a flirty bun or braids? We know, buns were everywhere in 2013, but this year’s buns are different – they are effortless and less structured. Braids of all types will be huge too, and both trends can be combined if you really want to show your stylish side. If you have  fine or flyaway hair then speak to one of the Darren Michael team about the best products to keep your style in  place. A feminine bun or braid is also a brilliant option for bridal hair.

2014 Hairstyle Trend: Ponytails

pony-3Ponytails are an extension of the sports luxe look that has been so popular on the catwalks. This season’s ponytails are low, sleek and straight and can be combined with more of the 2014 trends, including wet look and ombre – again if you would like an easy glossy finish then why not try a Brazilian Blow-dry? To add a bit more interest combine accessories such as hair bands or slides.

2014 Hairstyle Trend: The Bob

99If your locks aren’t long, then don’t worry – 2014 still has a style for you! Bobs will be a big trend for spring. This year’s bob is shorter than what we’ve seen previously, drawing more attention to your face. If you’re feeling especially brave, then rock the New Year by rocking a pixie cut – remember though that to keep your pixie looking perfect, it will require regular appointments.

2014 Hair Trend: Men’s hair

187This year men’s hair is sleek and traditional and length is still in. If you’re after something a bit more edgy then short fringes are huge in high fashion, be cautious though – this look will make your face look round so will not suit all face shapes.
