Usually used to lighten the hair, we can however use highlights, low lights & babylights to add rich brown tones, pretty pastel tones, or even vibrant colours.

Which Colouring Technique is Right for Me?

Here, we break down some of the most popular highlighting techniques at our Shaw & Crompton hair salon in Oldham.

Highlights: Highlights are used to give hair a natural sun-kissed look. This result is achieved by applying individual foils to the hair – different widths and sections of hair, as well as different tones, are used to achieve the client’s desired look.

Sample Foils: This technique is very similar to traditional highlights; however, it is only used on one area of hair – most commonly the fringe.  Up to eight foils are applied to the hair and a subtle or dramatic look can be achieved depending on the colour used.

Partial/Half Head of Foils: This method allows you to create your own individual look. Foils can be added to the hair in a uniform pattern or randomly to allow you to achieve your desired look.

Full Head of Foils: This type of foils allows you the most dramatic change. A single colour, or an array, can be added to hair, giving a vibrant fun look.
